About COMPASS

Compass, Communities Promoting A Safer Society, is a non profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to combating the epidemic of violence and abuse.

Our primary objectives are to 1) create awareness of the issues, 2) empower people with the skills needed to protect themselves from violent crimes/abuse and 3) equip people with the skills needed for effective crisis intervention.

Create Awareness, Empower & Equip
Our specialized training programs are designed using a unique methodology developed by our Founder, Joe Paluszak. This training methodology skillfully blends disturbing facts, with humor, riveting testimonies, music and engaging object lessons.

Since becoming a certified Crisis Intervention Counselor in 1987, Joe has presented over 1,700 programs on school violence, abduction, sexual abuse, domestic violence, dating violence and abuse prevention.

Joe's experience in working with survivors of violence and abuse led to the creation of an organization focused on prevention and intervention, and in 1995 The Conspiracy of Silence was created.

With reports of abduction, sexual abuse, school violence, and domestic violence appearing almost daily in the news, the demand for prevention/intervention training programs increased.

The attack of September 11th, educated the world on the importance of crisis intervention readiness.

And, the status of the economy has forced many large corporations to downsize making the professional workplace a fertile ground for violence.

As our training portfolio evolved to meet the demands of the communities our company also evolved to become known as Compass, Communities Promoting A Safer Society.
